About US

The Lodge Jamestown came about from a love of Architecture. The heart of any city or town is its Downtown district. Our hope is to add to that beauty & heart by providing a modern space that honors the past architecture for the community to come together to celebrate life by means of weddings, speaking engagements, theatre plays, concerts, corporate events, dinners, fund raisers, community gatherings, holiday parties, meetings & anything in between.

The Lodge Jamestown was originally built by The Masons as A gathering space for their meetings & business. Construction began in 1914 & completed by 1916 during World War 1. It was a great feat for its time for the sheer space of 15,000sqft & pinhole gas log fireplaces & central vacuum system. In those days there were no modern TV’s to gather around to occupy our time. People gathered regularly for socializing at clubs like The Masonic Lodge. They conducted business, they had meals, played cards, listened to the radio, played pool but the goal was to socialize & connect.

As time passed into our modern era and our world, which was so big, became smaller with the invention of the television, airplanes, cell phones etc. The socializing & conducting of business took on a different form. Social clubs were on the decline & it became harder to maintain & operate a building of this size with dwindling members becoming more & more busy in our modern era.

The building came up for sale at Auction & Joel & Barbara Onsurez purchased the building to save it from those who would profit by demolishing the building & stripping its contents to make way for other properties or simply to turn it into apartments.

The building itself had never in its history been open to the general public & had stained glass on every single window so there was a mystery to the goings on of the building on the inside with many rumors shrouded in the mystery of The Mason’s.

Originally Joel & Barbara purchased the building with the intent to make it their grand Beautiful Home as they were in love with the architecture both inside & out of the building. As time went along, the community became so interested in the building that they decided to share The Lodge with the public and to renovate it for public events.

Enjoy the hard work of our renovation & the over 100 year old original woodwork  & symbolic architecture that the local Masons built for you to enjoy today
